About The Event
Join ceramicist Ruth Borgenicht and designer Altarik Banks to find all kinds of clay and glass artifacts from a century ago and explore the histories of our industrial past that brought these remnants to our feet. The expedition launches from Glenfield Park and takes you on a hike along the banks of Toney’s Brook. After meandering through Montclair, this ancient waterway carved a dramatic glen, for which the town of Glen Ridge is named. Framed by riverbanks of brownstone, a type of sandstone recognizable all over Brooklyn, the glen once had enough water running through it to power five mills. We’ll leave this expedition with new perspectives about and appreciation for our landscape and the treasures it holds.
